Mu ha ha ha – it’s alive!

July 12, 2007

My my it’s hard to keep these blogs up to date… there’s always something else that needs doing!

We’ve been feverishly marketing Buy Your Way To The Top and the traffic is slowly going up and up and up. It’s great to be able to tell people about the site and hear them say what a great idea they think it is!

We always knew it wasnt going to be an overnight success but then very few things actually ever are. The way the traffic is increasing it will start to snowball very soon.

During our marketing activities, we found what we thought was a small gap in a market, spurring me to write a 4000 word ebook on Monday night. It is aimed at the blogging beginner and covers the basic concepts such as how to start a blog, how to get people to read it and how to make money from it. You can read more about it at A Guide to Blogging or even buy it if you’d like! It’s a snip at only $3.99!

While mucking around with all of these exciting new web ventures, a blinding idea for the next social experiment web site hit me while driving to Asda and so I will no doubt dedicate far too much time to setting it up and marketing it in the near future!

I’d best go and do some proper work for a while!

Buy your Way to the TOP

July 6, 2007

The first experiment is revealed! Ma ha!

www.buyyourwaytothetop.com

Buy your Way to the Top is an experiment and study into site marketing, traffic generation and the innate human desire to WIN! Anyone interested in using the site either as an advertising opportunity or to massage their ego is invited to bid on our daily eBay auctions for the Top Slot. Casual visitors are invited back to the site daily to see just how much someone was / is willing to pay to get to the top of the site!

It is a legitimate commercial opportunity where the user-generated (although paid for) content, along with how much they were willing to pay to get there, provides the curiosity to keep people coming back. That’s the theory anyway! That word experiment gives a wave from the corner again.

Suggestions for Search Engine Optimisation keywords on a postcard!

Social Experimentation

July 6, 2007

Banned TVFor a while now I have been wondering just what use I can put my web site making skills to work on. When learning web technology such as ASP, ASP.net, flash, search Engine Optimisation etc, I can’t help but feel the potential of these tools teasing me to put them to use on interesting and fingers crossed wealth-building personal projects!

I have dabbled in the past, what with little offshoots such as The PC Help Centre, and the creation of the streaming video and associated content management and deployment web system for www.bannedtv.co.uk, both as personal interest projects, but there’s a desire in me to build something greater. Not something necessarily overly-technical but something that will capture the minds and possibly hearts of thousands of people, something that will satisfy my own yearning to create and discover.

I am going to start a new venture, one from which various projects will spawn. These projects will be a series of social experiments, attempting to advance the understanding of Internet user behaviour, marketing techniques and copywriting,  both for myself and any who cares to follow my work! The ultimate aim is to gain an understanding of what makes people tick when it comes to influences on the Internet; what they like and what they avoid, how to get the message out and how to build interest, and how to convey my own enthusiasm about the projects to emotionally invest people in them.

More on this later, because now, I am preparing the first experiment.

They’re apparently the most used letters in the English language in ascending order. There’s a useless fact for you to start us off.

I am a 23 year old guy from the Midlands in England. I am one of two directors of an IT Support and Web Design Company that has been steadily increasing its loyal customer base for almost three years. We have over 100 domain names under our control that I have used to boost many surrounding companies profiles and sales (hey, if you can’t shrug off the modesty in an anonymous blog where can you?!).

I have just discovered the Dan Kennedy approach to marketing, and inspired by the successful use of it by a couple of friends am starting too to succumb to it’s magic. You will hear a lot more about this in the very near future I’m sure.

Here’s your treat for getting through my first post. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Y73sPHKxw It is advertised as “Five seconds of intense drama”.  Catch you L8rs.
